Canelo Vs Berlanga Fight Card Recap: A Night Full Of Action

This weekend’s Canelo vs. Berlanga card delivered an entertaining night of boxing with plenty of action-packed fights. From undercard to main event, fans were treated to high drama, gritty performances, and surprising moments.

In one of the most competitive bouts of the night, Stephen Fulton earned a hard-fought split decision victory over Castro. Fulton found himself on the canvas in the 5th round, but he showed incredible resilience, clawing his way back to edge out a win. Castro made Fulton work for every round, refusing to give him any space or rest, as he fired back after every punch Fulton landed.

Rolly Romero also secured a unanimous decision over Martinez. Although Martinez wasn’t as aggressive as many had expected, Rolly was sharp, landing the cleaner, more precise punches throughout the fight. Martinez had moments where he tried to break through with combinations, but Rolly’s timing and counterpunching kept him at bay.

Perhaps the most exciting fight of the night was Caleb Plant’s TKO win over McCumby. Early on, the bout was evenly matched, with McCumby landing solid shots and even scoring a knockdown in the 4th round. Although the knockdown seemed to come from a punch grazing Plant’s glove, it was still counted. But after that, Plant adjusted his strategy. He began fighting on the inside, showing off his superior skill set and ring IQ. He targeted McCumby’s body relentlessly and framed his punches to find the openings. By the 9th round, Plant’s combination of body and head shots overwhelmed McCumby, forcing the referee to stop the fight.

The Lara vs. Garcia fight, on the other hand, was more of a slow-burn affair. Both fighters were cautious, feeling each other out in the early rounds with limited punch output. As the fight progressed, Lara started to find his rhythm, using his jab more effectively and walking Garcia down. Lara’s straight left hand became his weapon of choice, consistently countering Garcia’s limited offense. In the end, a left hand from Lara—one that didn’t even seem that powerful—sent Garcia to the canvas. Surprisingly, Garcia’s team called the fight off after the knockdown, which shocked many viewers.

Finally, the main event—Canelo vs. Berlanga—was a one-sided affair. Canelo knocked Berlanga down in the 3rd round with a sharp hook, and it seemed like the fight might end early. However, Berlanga showed tremendous heart, tightening his guard and weathering the storm for the rest of the fight. While Berlanga began to throw more punches in the later rounds, it was too little, too late, and his offense didn’t have much effect. In the end, Canelo cruised to a majority decision victory.

All in all, it was a solid card with plenty of thrilling moments. While the main event didn’t deliver a back-and-forth battle, the undercard more than made up for it with excitement and intensity.
